About the Studio
the beautiful between

From a far-off perch,
An earnest song
Threaded the quiet pines.

The wonderous mark,
A humble gift,
I opened there at rest.

Through me, then on—
The easing calm,
Coaxed some width from time.

Skyward eyes and smile found
My chest inhaled
the peace.

Serenity is brief and seldom, I hope it finds you soon. In honor of those moments—this work, in gratitude.

About JPC
My work comes from a persistent interest in tools, materials, and building. It surfaced at a worn workbench in day care, straightening used nails. I am captivated by learning techniques, then honing them, and using them to shape and create. I have followed that curiosity into woodworking, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, into the garden and the kitchen, engineering, and metalwork. My love for these worlds alongside my pursuit for efficiency and strength push me to create what I do every day.

I founded Nota Mira to assemble my products tuned for batch production. After finding each products essence, then honing their repeatable fabrication, they are made available in grouped series. I hope they become useful and inspiring pieces for your home.
I live in Cincinnati with my astounding wife, Sarah, and our baby boy.
This studio seeks strong, elegant assemblies grounded in functionality. Finished pieces celebrate the innate beauty of natural materials, the fabricated beauty generated through machining and craft, and the unexpected beauty revealed when design lets grace temper necessity. Products are made available in series as a production group is completed.
